why do you love working at Puzzle Pieces and doing the work you do
I love working at Puzzle Pieces because the team here is fun to be around and helps me grow as a clinician. I also love the families and kids that I get to work with and find ways to make therapy fun. Seeing families and kids feel safe and grow to their fullest potential is amazing!
explain what you do at Puzzle Pieces
I am an occupational therapist and my job is to help kids and families be as independent as they can be with their daily tasks and activities! I help kids regulate their sensory systems, regulate emotions, increase gross motor skills and fine motor skills. I also help increase foundational skills to make daily tasks like dressing, bathing, toileting, and eating more functional to help increase independence throughout the day. Educating families for how to help their kids at home is also a part of the job.
what do you like doing outside of work
I love to hike with my dog, read, paint, listen to music, spend time with my friends and family and watch the Buffalo Bills!
what education or certifications do you have
- Bachelors of Science in Health Studies from Utica College
- Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Utica College
- Trained in SOS Approach to Feeding
- Completed extensive continuing education and research in primitive reflex integration
